Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, friends. I wish you all the best for 2025.

It promises to be a big year for me. SUNNY PARKER IS HERE TO STAY will be out in paperback in April. Then, in May, my fifth middle-grade novel will be published. It’s called Spelling it Out. It’s about a boy who spends an adventurous summer studying for the Scripps National Spelling Bee, all the while missing every single clue that something might be seriously wrong with the grandmother he’s come to stay with. It’s ultimately a book about memory and making mistakes and learning to be brave.

Go ahead and preorder! You’re going to like it.

In other news, I’ve been reading some great middle-grade fiction. I just finished Not Nothing by Gayle Forman, and before that I read The Tenth Mistake of Hank Hooperman by Gennifer Choldenko. The books are about very different subjects, but somehow they made a good pairing as they are both about young boys trying to find a way to do their best in very difficult circumstances. They were both excellent too! No surprise there! They are both outstanding writers.

That’s for now! Go do something fun!
